Calica joins Ocean Shipyard as the latest grantee

Calica, a company driven by the mission to open up new monetization opportunities for ecosystems across Web3, is the latest grantee to benefit from Shipyard — the $2M grants program for entrepreneurs looking to build open-source Web3 solutions on Ocean Protocol.

Currently, on-chain revenue is predominantly managed through simple split contracts, manual administration, or costly dev work. Calica enables touchless on-chain revenue management and automated distribution with a no-code tool and portal experiences for earning data providers. Calica is built to be directly composable with sources of revenue and completely eliminate dev work and/or manual administration for complicated revenue agreements such as earning caps for different parties, directing sources of revenue at NFT holders, profit-only distributions, and more.

As part of their Ocean Shipyard grant deliverable, Calica is focusing on enhancing existing data monetization opportunities via a no-code tool that allows everyone to write business rules within a finance module and connect those modules in an end-to-end workflow.

On-chain smart contract factories will deploy a combination of interconnected smart contracts that connect to Ocean Protocol and execute the business rules accordingly as access to data sets is purchased. The result is a completely automated and touchless experience for data providers who are earning. All earners on a Calica workflow are given a dashboard to track and manage their earnings.

Calica will be embedded in Ocean Protocol’s data publishing experience so that data publishers can use Calica to automate funds from sales back to data providers, algorithm providers, and eventually even point streams of funds directly as a dataNFT.
