Calling all Oceaners, developers and data enthusiasts!

If you are passionate about DeFi and data analysis, then look no further than the Ocean Protocol Predict-ETH data challenge series.

Ocean launches the third Predict-ETH data challenge to incentivize the publishing of DeFi predictions on the Ocean Market.

Contestants need to predict the price of ETH for 12 hours into the future, submit their price predictions, and describe their solution for a chance to win.

Prize Pool: $5000 USD /payable in OCEAN

1st place: $2500

2nd place: $1500

3rd place: $1000

The evaluation panel will determine if entries are valid, submitted in good faith, and meet minimum requirements as specified in the challenge description.

How to Enter the Challenge

See the challenge requirements here, create your proposal, and submit your predictions all on the Predict-ETH challenge page.

You can use any data you wish — static data or streams, free or priced, raw data or feature vectors, published in Ocean or not. We included links to some data feeds and AI modeling approaches that you may find helpful in the challenge’s README.

The Challenge

Submission deadline is Feb 19, 2023 at 23:59 UTC.

Contestants are requested to submit the following:

  1. A .csv file with ETH price predictions over a 12-hour period, with the first prediction presenting the price on Monday February 20, 2023 at 1:00am UTC and a prediction for every hour on the hour after that, for 12 predictions total.
  2. A report of 10–15 slides describing your approach, difficulties encountered and challenges faced while using the Ocean library and/or recommendations you may have. Think of this as a “conference presentation” for your work.
  3. Use the proper flow to submit your prediction. This includes storing the predictions onto Arweave, publishing the predictions on Ocean Market and sharing the datatoken to the judges for accessing such predictions.

Evaluation Criteria

50% of the competition’s score will be objectively measured, based on Normalized Mean Square Error (NMSE) of the predictions (1). The README shows the precise calculations.

25% of the competition’s score will be based on the slides (2), subjectively measured by a panel of judges. The criteria will be like those of a presentation in a technical conference.

25% of the competition’s score will be based on the use of the appropriate submission flow (3).
